CHALLENGE: A strategic and intentional approach is essential for designing great maker spaces. By creating organized, durable spaces that cater to the diverse needs of CTE programs, schools can engage students, parents, and the community by making the learning process visible.

This "learning on display" approach not only generates interest but also highlights student achievements and strengthens the connection between the school and its stakeholders. With transparent, fishbowl-style designs and state-of-the-art equipment, maker spaces can become the heart of the school, fostering a culture of hands-on learning and innovation.

This new construction High School envisioned a strategic layout where various CTE disciplines like culinary, sports medicine, robotics, and engineering are at the core of the school. With windows on all sides, allowing for a fishbowl effect, these spaces showcase activities and promote a culture of "learning on display."

This design creates an organized, durable space that not only caters to the diverse needs of different CTE programs but also engages students, parents, and the community by making the learning process visible. This "learning on display" approach aims to generate interest, highlight student achievements, and strengthen the connection between the school and its stakeholders.

TREND: Embracing the trend of "Learning by Doing" and emphasizing CTE education, these state-of-the-art maker space classrooms become the hub of innovation and hands-on learning. By incorporating functional furniture like Artcobell storage and tables, schools can create dynamic environments that inspire creativity and collaboration among students, shaping the future of education.

Designing Functional Layouts

When designing a maker space lab for students in school, it's crucial to take a strategic and intentional approach. By creating organized and durable spaces that cater to the diverse needs of CTE programs, schools can engage students, parents, and the community by showcasing the learning process. Implementing transparent, fishbowl-style designs with state-of-the-art equipment can transform these spaces into the heart of the school, fostering a culture of hands-on learning and innovation. To future-proof your maker space, consider incorporating products like the Linear Lounge, Arise, Shape Tables, and Maker Space to ensure functionality and versatility. With the right design and resources, maker spaces can become dynamic environments that inspire creativity and collaboration among students, ultimately shaping the future of education.
